AREA AGENCY ON AGING

Area Agency on Aging serves older adults, people with disabilities and their caregivers with a variety of services and supports throughout the region. It works to ensure people can maintain their best quality of life in the environment of their choosing. It also operates the Aging and Disability Resource Center, which connects people with the support programs that can assist them.

COMMUNITY & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Community and Economic Development guides strategic regional and local planning efforts by compiling and interpreting data. It supports local governments with a high level of technical skills and capabilities in the realms of community and economic development and planning as it relates to analysis and interrupting data.

EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS

Emergency Communications provides critical infrastructure — primary and redundant networks, 9-1-1 communications equipment and mapping — to support call processing that ensures 9-1-1 systems remain operational. The division also provides technical planning, tele-communicator and 9-1- 1 management training, and 9-1-1 public education materials to 31 public safety answering points (PSAPs).

Homeland Security supports local communities in planning, organizing, and responding to natural and man-made disasters by providing training and coordination, regional tools, and funding focused on preparedness, response and recovery activities.

REGIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT ACADEMY

Regional Law Enforcement Academy provides local peace officers and prospective peace officers with the necessary and advanced training needed to thrive in a law enforcement career. The academy also serves the educational and training needs of county correctional officers and emergency tele-communicators — alongside the Emergency Communications Division.

Regional Planning and Services supports air quality and natural resources planning, commuter programs and other regional planning efforts by providing researched analyses, coordinating policy discussions, conducting community outreach. It also coordinates a number of GIS services throughout the 10-county region.

WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS

The Workforce Solutions Middle Rio Board serves as the governing board for the regional workforce system, a network of service providers and contractors that brings people and jobs together in the nine-county Middle Rio region. Our membership reflects the diverse constituencies of the regional community: business, economic development, education, labor, community organizations, and government.
